Mayor Turns on Gold Lights
Did you know in 2024 it will be 50 years since the borough of Halton was created? Community partners and the Council have put together a year of events and activities for everyone to take part in and enjoy.
Launched with both bridges being illuminated Gold from 1 January, the anniversary celebrations – Halton 50 – will include shows, exhibitions, artworks and outdoor events.
Norton Gaia
The installation aims to create a sense of the Overview Effect, first described by author Frank White in 1987. Common features of the experience for astronauts are a feeling of awe for the planet, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, ad a renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment.
Halton 50 Funding
2024 marks the 50th year of the Borough of Halton. In 1974 the two towns on Runcorn and Widnes, along with a number of surrounding villages, joined together to create the Borough of Halton. As part of the celebration of Halton turning 50, Halton Borough Council is excited to announce two funding opportunities for community and cultural initiatives.
