FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN IN HALTON

Looking for something a little different this weekend? The sun’s out, you want to be outdoors… but you’re also in the mood for something creative. Good news: in Runcorn, you don’t have to choose.

Say hello to the Dukesfield Street Art Trail — a bold and colourful outdoor gallery right in the heart of town.

What’s It All About?

Once just plain concrete pillars under the railway viaduct, these towering structures have been transformed into striking murals by artists Aylo Nomad and Liam Bononi. Inspired by local stories, history and characters, the artworks reflect Runcorn’s rich past and vibrant community spirit.

You’ll spot references to everything from old pubs and canal heritage to Mercian royalty and modern-day faces — a visual celebration of the people who make Runcorn what it is today.

Made by and for the Community

This isn’t art from a distance — it was shaped by local voices.  From an early vision in Society Taprooms with owner Alex it has become a community collaboration. Over two years, Hazlehurst Studios led workshops, school visits and storytelling walks to gather stories and inspiration directly from residents with the Runcorn & District Historical Society. Celebrating diversity and inclusion – with mural themes that reflect Runcorn’s range of identities and lived experiences – It’s art that welcomes everyone and proudly says: you belong here.

Where:
Under the railway viaduct between the Bridgewater Canal and the River Mersey, near Runcorn High Street.

When:
Any time — it’s outdoors, completely free, and easy to visit whenever you’re in town.
