FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN IN HALTON

If you are planning day trips out or a trip to Liverpool and looking at extending your stay – then Halton has so much to keep you and your tribe entertained, after all is a destination for the curious.

Also, there is FREE parking throughout Halton, as well as being less than two hours from London on the train, it is so easy to get to and around.

The GAMER in your family will love a visit to VR Warehouse in Runcorn. This hidden gem will level up your day out. With three stand up VR headsets and a huge library of games to choose from, two racing seats with VR headsets and a roller coaster simulator, it will keep them entertained. There are also free retro arcade games to play, who doesn’t love Pacman.

The SPORTY ONE will definitely want to head to Runcorn Ski Centre, it is a dry ski slope and you can have skiing lesson or the family can try ‘tubing’ which is open April – October – a thrilling family experience. Still keeping you on ‘ice’ there is Planet Ice in Widnes, which is fun family day out on the ice rink.  Why not get the thrill of watching the Widnes Vikings rugby or the Runcorn Linnets football.

The SCIENTIST can get hands on with the unique and interactive exhibits at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre. There are also lots of workshops that are fun and will keep the whole family entertained. You can also enjoy the play area outside if the sun is shining and have a refreshment at the café on site.

The CULTURE LOVER will be spoilt for choice as there are so many great attractions. Start in the charming village of Daresbury and head to the Lewis Caroll Centre and find out more about the author of Alice in Wonderland who spent his childhood in Daresbury. You can take a self-guided walk that Lewis himself took as a boy. Afterwards go for a scoop of award-winning ice cream at Daresbury Dairy and check out their special flavours. Next stop is Norton Priory Museum & Gardens which is one of the most excavated monastic sites in Europe. Be wowed by the stunning 12th Century undercroft with beautiful, vaulted ceilings. There is also the woodland walks and the Georgian walled garden to explore, and you can see the ruins in the grounds. Be sure to check out the events listing as there is lots of live outdoor theatre and music during the summer months.  Still in Runcorn, head to The Brindley for live entertainment with performances such as Shrek the Musical and Dinosaur Live.  Afterwards take a stroll down the canal and find the Wat Phra Singh Buddhist Temple and see the stunning bronze Chedi in the Peace Garden. Widnes isn’t getting left out as The Studio puts on gigs and performances and is a welcome space for all and DCBL Stadium is known for its live acts and comedy nights.  

The OUTDOORSY ONE has lots of open space, Green Flag parks, canals, TransPenine Trails to roam and play. Victoria Park in Widnes has a great play area and Esposito’s deli for authentic gelato, as well as a Butterfly House where you can step inside the tropical oasis and see the butterflies flutter past you.
