Budget Friendly things to do this February Half- Term

We know half term is around the corner and that means a lot of kids and no time for yourself. Don’t worry we’ve got you covered, we’ve put together a February half-term survival guide with some ways to keep your whole family busy and especially quiet!

You don’t need to be indoors to have fun, get the family outside and enjoy what Halton has to offer with many available outdoor activities.

Hale Lighthouse

Explore Hale Lighthouse along the coast and inhale that sea breeze while learning about the history of this historic site! It’s the perfect destination to blow off some steam and wear those kids out with the wide surrounding area! We love to mix exercise and fun!

Spike Island Play Area

Spend an afternoon playing at the Spike Island playground, a beautiful environment with playground equipment and scenic views to allow the kids to blow off energy and enjoy an afternoon full of play.

Phoenix Park

Head over to Phoenix Park in Runcorn and have a full day of fun and excitement with lots of activities to do. The park has a BMX pump track which is perfect for bikes and racing around! The park also includes playgrounds and a large green scenery for walks and picnics, weather prohibited.

Lewis Caroll Centre

Take a trip to The Lewis Caroll Centre and discover the history behind the author of Alice in Wonderland. This spot is perfect for education and entertainment with stories and fun activities awaiting. After you’ve explored the centre take the walking route down the road to the National Trusts Lewis Caroll Birthplace site and Centenary Woods! With more opportunities to explore more of the surrounding area.

Victoria Park

Take a visit to Victoria Park in Widnes, with its amazing playground it makes the perfect day for the kids to be kept entertained, free of charge! With lots of play equipment, you won’t need to do anything but stroll up to the location. After all the play, grab a snack at Esposito’s nearby with lots of delicious choices to choose from.

Events

If you’re planning on stepping away from the budget this half-term Halton has lots of events to keep yourself and your family entertained!

The Catalyst is running lots of fun scientific workshops to keep the mind curious during the break. Learn how to create fizzing bath bombs in a creative yet educational manner or explore the centre and learn interesting scientific facts.

Head to Runcorn Ski Centre and grab some ski lessons, this is the perfect drop-off and pick-up activity for your kids. Nearby is the Halton miniature railway and Town Park playground, an extra free activity to keep your family entertained.

Norton Priory have lots of fun events this half-term like Mars at the Museum, a fun space exhibition that is also showing at night giving that extra out-of-this-world experience! They’re also hosting space crafts, a fun activity to blast you into creativity.
